Overview

We are seeking an experienced full-time manager for our Charity Shop – shortly to remove to larger premises at 76 Victoria Road, Govanhill Glasgow. The person appointed will want to be an enthusiastic part of this vibrant Charitable Trust, will have the skills necessary to run such shop and relate confidently and effectively to the shop volunteers, customers, visitors and members of the Trust. 

The shop is a bustling enterprise that caters significantly for the needs of the “diverse” Govanhill community and beyond.  Details about the Trust can be found on this site.

Purpose of the job

  • To supervise volunteer workers at the Charity Shop in accordance with agreed procedures.  To arrange for training of such staff and keep a record and calendar of their services. 
  • To ensure a high quality reception service for all customers and visitors at the Charity shop. 
  • To ensure with assistance from volunteers the smooth running of the Charity Shop 

Specific Responsibilities/Tasks:

Finance

  • Manage the processing of incoming charity donations, their pricing and display.
  • As required ensure shop takings are banked on a daily basis.
  • Manage in the monitoring of financial information in respect of Charity shop 
  • Manage the preparation of a monthly income and expense spreadsheet
  • Manage the development of financial systems.

General Administration

  • Co-ordinate and supervise the workload of volunteers
  • Ensure the provision and maintenance of all shop equipment and services on a cost effective basis.
  • Carry out an analysis of the work loads of volunteers and keep accurate records of their contact details and availability
  • Management of Charity shop accounts – telephone, water, rent etc.
  • Undertake routine administrative tasks (mail, etc) 
  • Development of administration systems and procedures.

Fundraising Administration

  • Assist in fundraising and administration as and when required 
  • Co-ordinate the compiling and issue of fundraising materials/information e.g. leaflets and thank you letters etc. at the Charity Shop

Other

  • To support the Treasurer in other tasks as required.
  • To represent the Trust at appropriate meetings

Working relationships

•    Within the Trust the post holder is part of a team
•    The post holder liaises with designated supervisors in respect of designated duties and role 
•    The post holder provides advice and support to the volunteers and as and when required to the Board
•    The post holder liaises with the external local and national bodies as and when required
•    Post holder liaises with the Board’s auditors in the annual audit.
•    Liaises with suppliers and customers as necessary.
•    Liaises with Board’s landlord as
•    Ensures at all times a professional working relationship with customers, Board members and Friends of Govan hill Baths

The Board is a changing and developing environment and therefore this job description is not exhaustive and will be modified in consultation with the incumbent
