Govanhill Baths is at a crucial stage in its journey toward reopening, and we are looking for dedicated individuals to join our Boards and help bring this vision to life.
In 2023, we reached a significant milestone with the £8.2 million completion of the first phase of refurbishment. This stage successfully preserved the building’s historic fabric, including the full conservation of the roof, stone walls, and windows. Extensive structural repairs have been carried out, ensuring the Baths are ready for the next phase of development.
To continue this vital work, we need individuals with expertise in:
- Facilities operations
- Health and safety
- Human resources
- Fundraising and capital fundraising
- Marketing
- Building conservation
- Project management

Refurbishment of Govanhill Baths – Overseeing the conservation and physical redevelopment of the building.
Current and Future Operations of Govanhill Baths – Delivering existing community programmes and developing the systems for the building’s long-term success.
Two Organisations Leading This Work
Govanhill Baths Community Trust (GBCT) – Focuses on operational development and community programming.
Govanhill Baths Building Preservation Trust (GBBPT) – Oversees the physical refurbishment of the building.
Commitment & Meetings
Board meetings take place every 4 to 6 weeks, typically in person in Govanhill, with some online meetings. This reflects the level of commitment needed to drive the project forward.
