10am – 4pm Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 November 2026
Our Christmas market returns, renamed RE:MADE. Come and join us for the festive gathering of makers and artists.
When a remnant of cloth, a damaged object or a found material meets creative skill and imagination, it can be more beautiful than something brand new.
Across the market, you will discover gifts created from reclaimed, salvaged, surplus and found materials. Hear more about the stories behind each piece – how the materials were thoughtfully sourced and the waste that was saved along the way. Meet the makers and artists who explore the resilience and sustainability of craft with all different methods and techniques.
Rooted in Govanhill and organised by Govanhill Baths, the market brings the creativity of the neighbourhood into the room. Alongside local and visiting makers, our Ceramics Studio, Men’s Shed, Creative Reuse Hub, and People’s Pantry bring together their year-round work at Govanhill Baths; turning wood, plastic, textile waste into original work, and surplus food into something tasty in a jar.
Govanhill Baths takes no commission from sales, so the money you spend goes directly to the person who made the work.
If you are looking for a festive gift AND the thought, skill, and care behind it, this is your market. Spend a cold December afternoon with us, enjoying some hot food and mulled drink!
Applications now open
We are currently accepting applications from makers and designers who would like to take part in RE:MADE.
We welcome work that transforms reclaimed, salvaged, surplus or found materials, as well as applications from makers whose approaches to sourcing, production, energy use, durability, repair, packaging and waste demonstrate a meaningful commitment to environmental responsibility.
We do not expect any maker to claim that their practice is perfectly sustainable. We are interested in honest, specific accounts of the choices you are making, the questions you are exploring and the ways in which your practice is developing.
Applications close: 30 September 2026
Applicants will hear the outcome by: 7 October 2026
Maker FAQs
What is RE:MADE?
RE:MADE is a festive market of reuse, repair and reinvention, presented by Govanhill Baths Community Trust.
It brings together independent artists, designers and makers whose work combines creative quality with thoughtful approaches to materials, production and environmental responsibility. Alongside the open-call market, a community showcase will celebrate the skills, resources and creative activity found within the neighbourhood surrounding Govanhill Baths.
RE:MADE is rooted in Govanhill while connecting local creative practice with makers from across Scotland and the wider UK. It is a market for original, beautifully made work, and for honest conversations about how things are made, used, valued, repaired and transformed.
Who can apply?
We welcome applications from independent artists, makers and small creative studios based in Scotland. Applications from makers elsewhere in the UK are also welcome.
We want RE:MADE to represent makers from different backgrounds and at different stages of their careers. Both emerging and established makers are encouraged to apply.
Applications may include ceramics, jewellery, textiles, illustration, print, books and paper goods, carving, weaving, homeware and other forms of contemporary or traditional craft. We are also interested in experimental and interactive stalls that bring the themes of reuse, repair and reinvention to life.
Applications can be for the full two-day market, or for one day only and takes place Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November 2026.
What are we looking for?
RE:MADE is a curated, design-led market. We are looking for work that is:
- Artistic, distinctive and of a high quality
- Contemporary and design-led
- Made independently or in small batches
- Supported by a clear visual identity
- Presented thoughtfully and professionally
- Meaningfully connected to reuse, repair, reinvention or environmental responsibility
We welcome both emerging and established makers. We are interested in creatives who demonstrate a clear artistic identity and a thoughtful approach to presenting their work.
Selection will be based both on the strength of each application and on how it contributes to RE:MADE as a whole. We will consider the quality and originality of the work, its environmental thinking, its presentation and how it contributes to a varied and well-balanced market across different creative practices, products and price points.
You may include a website or social-media account to help us understand your wider creative practice. A large following or highly developed online presence is not required. However, we do look for a clear point of view in your creative practice and a thoughtful approach to how your work is presented.
What do we mean by environmental responsibility?
Environmental responsibility is the thread connecting the different makers and activities within RE:MADE. We are particularly interested in practices that value materials, objects, skills and traditions through care, resourcefulness and transformation.
Your approach might include:
- Repairing, restoring or remaking existing objects
- Using reclaimed, salvaged, surplus, found or waste materials
- Making creative use of offcuts or materials that might otherwise be discarded
- Transforming existing materials or objects into something with a different purpose or value
- Sourcing materials responsibly or producing work locally
- Reducing waste, energy use or unnecessary packaging
- Making durable products that can be repaired, reused or kept for a long time
- Preserving or reinventing traditional skills
- Exploring another meaningful approach to environmental responsibility
We do not expect makers to claim that their practice is perfectly sustainable. We are interested in honest and specific accounts of the choices you make, the questions you are exploring and how your practice is developing.
Environmental responsibility is an important part of RE:MADE, but it is not a checklist or the only consideration. We are looking for work in which artistic quality, creative identity and environmental thinking strengthen one another.
How does the selection process work?
We want RE:MADE to bring together a strong and balanced mixture of products, creative practices, makers and price points.
Applications will be considered on:
- The quality and originality of the work
- Whether the work demonstrates a clear and distinctive creative approach
- Its connection with reuse, repair, reinvention or environmental responsibility
- The thought given to presenting the work
- How the application contributes to the overall balance of the market
RE:MADE is not suitable for mass-produced products or goods bought in for resale.
We understand that some makers use specialist printers, manufacturers or fabricators as part of their production process. If any element of your production is outsourced, please explain this in your application. We will consider the nature and scale of that production, as well as your own creative involvement.
We expect to receive more applications than we have spaces available. Unfortunately, this means that we may not be able to offer a place to every suitable applicant or provide individual feedback.
When and where does RE:MADE take place?
RE:MADE takes place across two connected venues in the heart of Govanhill:
The Deep End
21 Nithsdale Street
Glasgow G41 2PZ
Romano Lav
43 Nithsdale Street
Glasgow G41 2PZ
The Deep End is Govanhill Baths Community Trust’s working community arts space and creative reuse hub. It is home to year-round ceramics, textiles, woodwork and recycled-plastics activity.
The Deep End is not a polished gallery or conventional market hall. It is a well-used, characterful space where things are made, repaired, tested and transformed every week. The marks and textures of that activity are part of the setting. This makes it an especially fitting home for RE:MADE, a market concerned with material histories, resourcefulness and finding new value in what already exists.
It is also a familiar and welcoming community venue where local people come to make, learn, meet and take part. RE:MADE brings visiting artists and designers into this living creative environment, connecting the market with the neighbourhood around it.
Located directly above The Deep End, Romano Lav is Scotland’s Roma cultural centre. Together, the two venues create a distinctive setting rooted in the cultural and creative life of Govanhill.
Both venues are accessible, and entry to the market is free. Our previous makers’ markets have attracted more than 2,000 visitors.
Govanhill Baths Community Trust is working towards reopening the historic Govanhill Baths as a community wellbeing centre. A dedicated stall at RE:MADE will share the campaign and raise funds towards that work.
The market is open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November 2026.
Set-up begins at 9am each day, with pack-down taking place between 4pm and 5pm. Makers must be available for the full setup, trading and pack-down period on each day for which they apply.
Successful applicants will receive detailed information about their allocated venue, arrival, unloading, parking and access arrangements before the market.
What is the community showcase and how does it work?
Alongside the open-call maker stalls, RE:MADE includes a community showcase celebrating work produced within approximately one square mile of the venue.
This strand draws attention to Govanhill’s local creative economy, including the skills, resources, relationships and shared knowledge that already exist within the neighbourhood. It brings together:
- Govanhill Baths Ceramics Studio, supported by the Goldsmiths Foundation, with work sold by Pottery Club members
- Our Climate Hub partners, including the People’s Pantry, which supports around 500 households each week, and Community Champignons, Govanhill’s community mushroom farm
- Govanhill Baths Men’s Shed
- Other community partners producing thoughtfully and ethically made work
The community showcase is organised directly with our local partners and is separate from the open-call selection process. It sits alongside the selected maker stalls, creating a meeting point between independent creative practice, community making and Govanhill’s culture of resourcefulness, repair and exchange.
How do I apply?
Complete our online maker application form by 30 September 2026.
The form asks about you, your creative practice, what you would like to sell and how your work connects with reuse, repair, reinvention or environmental responsibility. You will also be asked to upload three to five recent images of your work.
You can apply to trade on:
- Saturday 28 November only
- Sunday 29 November only
- Both Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November
Please indicate your availability in the application form. Applicants who can attend both days are not automatically more likely to be selected. We will consider each application on its merits and as part of the overall balance of the market.
All applicants will be contacted with the outcome by 7 October 2026.
Successful applicants must confirm their place by 14 October 2026 and pay the full stall fee by 1 November 2026.

- A card reader or cash float
- Appropriate packaging for purchases
- Any equipment needed for demonstrations or interactive activities
Access to electrical sockets is limited and cannot be guaranteed. Please bring a fully charged battery pack for your card reader and any other essential equipment.
Please avoid unnecessary or single-use packaging wherever possible. We encourage makers to choose packaging that reflects the environmental values of RE:MADE.
Can I propose an experimental or interactive stall?
Yes. We welcome experimental ideas that bring the themes of reuse, repair and reinvention to life and add something unexpected to the market.
This could include:
- Live making or repair
- Mending or material demonstrations
- Printing or personalisation
- Participatory activities or small workshops
- Performative or interactive stalls
- Unusual ways of displaying, exchanging or selling work
- Products made or completed during the market
We are particularly interested in ideas that invite visitors into the creative process, encourage conversation or help people think differently about materials, waste, value and how things are made.
If you would like to propose an experimental or interactive stall, please email festival@govanhillbaths.com before applying. Tell us about your idea and include any additional space, setup, power, water or access requirements.
We will consider the scale and practical requirements of each proposal before confirming whether it can be accommodated.
What access support is available?
We want the application process and market to be as accessible as possible.
If you cannot use Google Forms, need help completing the application or would prefer to apply in another format, please contact festival@govanhillbaths.com.
You will be able to tell us about any access requirements in your application. This might include requirements relating to:
- Step-free access
- Seating
- Arrival and unloading
- Stall location
- Lighting or sound
- Communication
- Additional setup time
- Support during the market
Successful applicants will receive detailed access, arrival, unloading and venue information before the market. We will work with makers to accommodate access requirements wherever reasonably possible.
